    e-Golf

Please note that Model Year 2020 e-Golfs are not currently equipped with Car Net Services.

Model Year 2014-2019:e-Golf Trip data displays various information about your e-Golf, by selecting any point on the graph you can see data including power consumption (kWh/mile), average speed and average energy consumption

Model Year 2014-2019:This setting determines the level your battery will automatically charge when you plug your VW vehicle in if you have a Delayed Charge set for overnight, otherwise your e-Golf will charge fully when plugged in. Using this setting alongside Delayed Charge allows you to take advantage of your electric company’s lower rates, and ensure you always have enough charge in your VW vehicle to get where you need to on short notice.

Model Year 2014-2019:You can charge your high-voltage battery using the following chargers:

  • Level 1 Charger – This is the charger that came with your e-Golf and can take up to 24 hours to fully charge from zero.
  • Level 2 Charger – This charger can be purchased separately and requires a professional technician to install at your home. Depending on the On-Board Charger in your e-Golf it can take 4 to 7 hours to fully charge from zero.
  • DC Fast Charger – This charger is a public one and not for private resale. It can charge your e-Golf from zero to 80% in an hour.
  • WARNING: Never switch on the motor and ignition during the charging process.

Model Year 2014-2019:You have several options when it comes to charging your e-Golf. The easiest way is to simply plug it into any available power source using the Level 1 charger that came standard with your vehicle. Once properly connected, the battery will charge until it reaches its target battery level (or until you unplug it). Another option is to set a charging schedule. This will auto-charge your vehicle to the desired target battery level so it's ready when you need it, and how you want it. You can modify, deactivate, or delete a schedule by using “Edit Battery + Climate Schedules” under "Remote" from home screen. WARNING: Never switch on the motor and ignition during the charging process.

Model Year 2014-2019:The e-manager allows you to customize your e-Golf's comfort and charging settings, for example what day(s) or time(s) you want charging to start and stop and what interior temperature you want. You can create a one-time OR recurring schedule based on your preferences. One-time schedules can be set up to a week in advance (including today).

Model Year 2014-2019:Push notifications are alerts you receive through the mobile app of your vehicle status. For example, VW Car-Net will check door status approximately 30 seconds after engine is shut off to confirm whether or not your doors are unlocked. Or if rain is in the forecast, VW Car-Net will check window status and if they are down send you an alert.

Model Year 2014-2019:The e-manager Timers can be used in correlation with delayed charge schedules to ensure your e-Golf is ready to go when you are. To set these up follow the steps below:
    1. Click Remote at the top of the navigation or the icon at the bottom
    2. Locate the e-manager section and click Edit next to the timer to change
    3. Choose the Battery + Climate Profile to use with the schedule.
    4. Set the Departure Time
    5. Choose the Occurrence the schedule should follow.
    6. Click Save
    7. Customer will receive a message indicating that the setting is being processed. Please allow 1-2 minutes to finalize
    8. Once saved the customer is redirected to the Remote page to ensure the timer is On

Model Year 2014-2019:The three 'Timers' give you more options to personalize your e-Golf ownership. You might have a "home" profile that schedules your e-Golf to charge at night (when energy may be less expensive) so it's ready for your morning commute. You might also have a "work" profile that activates your vehicle's air-conditioning at 4:45 p.m. so it's cooler when you leave the office.

Model Year 2014-2019:If you choose to take advantage of your utility company’s night rate, you can set specific times your vehicle will start and finish charging. Check with your utility company on whether you have applicable off-peak hours. To set up a schedule on the VW Car-Net web portal follow the steps below:
    1. Click Remote at the top of the navigation or the icon at the bottom
    2. Select Battery + Climate Profiles on the right side
    3. Select the profile to edit, or click Create New Profile at the bottom of the list
    4. Toggle Climate On or Off
    5. Turn Battery Charging On or Off
    6. Set the desired Maximum Battery charge level
    7. Set the desired Maximum Charging Current level
    8. Toggle Night Rate Timer On or Off
    9. Choose Start and End time
    10. Click Save

Model Year 2014-2019:The maximum battery level is the amount of battery charge you want your e-Golf to have before it stops charging. The default target battery level is 100%. We recommend changing the default since frequent and consecutive charging of the high-voltage battery when the charge level is above 98% can also decrease the capacity of the high-voltage battery. Make sure the charge level is below 98% when you start the charging process.

Model Year 2014-2019:Even when plugged in, your e-Golf may not reach its target battery level for a number of technical reasons that do not mean that your e-Golf is malfunctioning. For instance, this can often happen if your high-voltage battery is being charged for the first time, or has been standing for a long period. If the target battery level can't be reached after several attempts, stop by an authorized Volkswagen dealer or service facility to have your vehicle inspected. Don't go more than 4 months without charging the battery.

Model Year 2014-2019:The answer is 'yes' to both questions. Over-charging your e-Golf with high-charging power, particularly direct current (DC), can permanently reduce your battery's charging capacity. When possible, use low-charging power like a Wallbox or supplementary charging cable. Under-charging your e-Golf is also dangerous. When the ambient temperature is high and high voltage battery level is low, your e-Golf is susceptible to damage. Not using the vehicle for long stretches can also damage the battery. Never go longer than 4 months without charging.
WARNING: Never switch on the motor and ignition during the charging process.

Model Year 2014-2019:We're sorry for the inconvenience. It's possible that communications between your vehicle and our systems were interrupted, causing your update to fail. There are several potential explanations for this. For example, if your vehicle is parked in a covered or enclosed garage, it may lack the cellular coverage needed to communicate with our systems. Please try your update again, and if you're still experiencing difficulty, call our support center at 877-820-2290.

Model Year 2014-2019:First, check to make sure your power source is working. If it is, it's possible the battery has already reached its target battery level. Alternatively, if you've set a schedule, it's possible the minimum battery level associated with that schedule has been reached and your e-Golf isn't scheduled to charge. Also you may want to check your Charging Preferences under “Remote” to see if you have a custom “Minimum Battery,” “Maximum Battery,” or “Maximum Charging Current” preference set during a programmed and actively running charging schedule, as it will override any actively running schedule. If these steps don't solve the issue, please consult your owner's manual and/or a certified Volkswagen dealer. WARNING: Never switch on the motor and ignition during the charging process.

Model Year 2020:VW Car-Net services are not available for Model Year 2020 e-Golf.
